We got tired of bad advice
and overpriced gear.
Desklab exists because we couldn't find a home office tech store in Australia that actually understood what it was selling. So we built one.

Most stores list the specs and leave you to figure it out. You end up buying a docking station that maxes out at 4K/30Hz, a USB-C hub that throttles your bandwidth, or a monitor arm rated for a screen 2kg heavier than yours. It's frustrating — and expensive to fix. We're networking and cloud computing professionals. We know how these products work at a technical level, and we built Desklab to be the store we always wished existed: one where every product is genuinely understood, every compatibility question is answered before you ask it, and every recommendation is made because it's the right one — not because the margin is better. Everything we stock is held in Australia, covered by local warranties, and personally vetted. We don't list 500 products. We list the ones worth buying. I started Desklab because every time someone asked me what home office gear to buy, I realised there was nowhere good to send them. The big retailers don't have the expertise. The overseas sites don't have local stock or warranties. And nobody was explaining the technical stuff — like why your cheap dock runs at 4K/30Hz, or why a MacBook Air won't drive two monitors no matter what hub you plug in. My background is in advanced networking and cloud computing. I know how this equipment works, and I built Desklab around that knowledge. Every product description, buying guide, and compatibility note on this site comes from someone who has actually thought carefully about the answer. If you email us before ordering and a product won't work well with your laptop or monitor, we'll tell you — and suggest what will. No sale is worth a bad customer experience.

Every product ships from Australian stock
We don't dropship from overseas warehouses. When you order, your product is physically in Australia and ships within 1–2 business days from Brisbane.

Australian Consumer Law applies — always
Your rights under the ACL are stronger than any store policy. We honour them fully, including the right to a refund or replacement for major failures. No runaround, no restocking fees on faulty goods.
